While radio is everywhere and many people have radios, others in extreme poverty do not have any means to purchase a radio or even to purchase the batteries if they do own a radio. HCJB Global has utilized a strategic innovation – the fixed-tuned radio. This small radio is solar powered and can be preset to the local Christian radio station. This means that as these go out, they will be the tool God uses to bring His Word into the homes of millions.

Families in Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi and South Africa have been known to travel dozens of miles on foot to obtain one of these sets. “The people are crying for radios,” one South African woman told a local station manager.

We have a very simple plan with these small radios:

1. We work with our international radio partners to identify how many radios they can use.
2. We partner with Christians to fund those radios to be given out in the international community.
3. We then pre-tune the radios to our partner’s signal and distribute them in the community through that partner.
